MONTEPULCIANO D'ABRUZZO

The Montepulciano is an Abruzzo native variety: it prefers clayey soils, tolerates droughts and ripens late. The concentration of anthocianins is one of the highest in the world. Rich in tannins, it may result astringent if enjoyed young. The red fruit notes amaze for their intensity. Produced by the amazing Pasetti family, guided by Mimmo and run by his three kids.

Tasting notes

It’s a vivid ruby red wine which has aromas of blackberry, currant and blueberry, accompanied by hints of liquorice, cinnamon and black pepper. In the mouth it’s warm with soft and evolved tannins, a right balance, good structure and persistence.

Food pairing

Pair with structured first courses with tomato sauce, timballo, wild boar, red meats and seasoned cheese.

Area of production

Pescosansonesco, 550m AMSL (National Park Area). The territory is characterised by an alpine climate, south-east exposure and a fittingly deep clay-calcareous soil. All the wines produced in this area
show a full structure, a long persistence and a superb olfactory quality. This unique soil perfectly matches with the Montepulciano vine variety and it enhances the strong connection between nature and tradition.

Production process

Fermentation in stainless steal vats, ageing 12 months in barrel and 6 months in the bottle.
